Creating and Editing News Articles
Creating a New Article
- Login to the Website Administration page
- If the HOME page isn’t expanded, click the [+] to expand HOME
- Expand the NEWS section by clicking the [+]
- Expand the ARTICLES section by clicking the [+]
- Find the current year’s page, and on the right side of the line click the (+) ADD CHILD link
- Give the page a TITLE
- Click the small MORE link just under the title and look for the TAGS listing. The tags determine which campuses the news article will be visible to. To use multiple tags, separate them with spaces like this:
capitolhill-hs parkside-hs. Here are the tags to use:- “school” for all campuses
- “capitolhill-hs” for the Capitol Hill HS
- “parkside” for both Parkside campuses
- “parkside-ms” for the Parkside Middle School
- “parkside-hs” for the Parkside High School
- “prep-ms” for the Bruce Prep MS
- Write your news article using the Textile Markup Language or HTML then click CREATE PAGE
Editing an Existing Article
- Follow steps 1-4 above
- Expand the YEAR [+] for the article you’re looking for
- Find the article you want to edit and click the title
- Make your changes and click SAVE CHANGES
Embedding Images within the Article
When you write a news article you may want to include one or more images. Here’s how to do that:
- Login to the website administration
- Expand Home => News => Articles
- Click the (+ Add Child) link to the right of 2010
- Write the text of your article and click SAVE AND CONTINUE EDITING
- Now the “Show Assets Bucket” button will appear in the upper right, click it
- In the popup frame, click the UPLOAD tab
- Click the CHOOSE FILE button, find the file you want to upload, then click SAVE AND UPLOAD
- Repeat for as many images as you want to embed
- Click the page’s SAVE CHANGES button
