Application Process
We are now accepting applications for the 2010-2011 school year. The application period begins on November 1, 2009 and ends on March 16, 2010. If there are more students applying than spaces available, we will conduct a public lottery on March 18, 2009. Notification letters will be mailed March 20, 2009—no phone calls please. We will continue to accept students after the deadline on a first come, first serve basis if there is availability in the grade level and no wait list.
- Chavez Bruce Prep is now accepting in grades 6, 7, and 8.
- Chavez Parkside Middle School is now accepting in grades 6, 7 and 8.
- Chavez Capitol Hill is now accepting in grades 9 and 10.
- Chavez Parkside High School is now accepting in grades 9 and 10.
All applicants will receive a dated receipt of application postcard to confirm that the application has been received by the school – if you do not receive this postcard within 2 weeks of submission, please contact the campus to confirm receipt.
Admissions Policies
The Chavez Schools are public schools free of charge serving students who reside in the District of Columbia. We do not discriminate against anyone because of race, color, religion, gender, national origin, sexual orientation, disability or any other characteristic protected by law. All information in this application is confidential; your answers will not affect the student’s acceptance. The Chavez Schools do not accept 11th and 12th grade applicants. We also have the following age criteria for new students enrolling at Chavez:
- For a student new to Chavez to be eligible for the 6th grade, you must be 12 or younger by the first day of school.
- For a student new to Chavez to be eligible for the 7th grade, you must be 13 or younger by the first day of school.
- For a student new to Chavez to be eligible for the 8th grade, you must be 14 or younger by the first day of school.
- For a student new to Chavez to be eligible for the 9th grade, you must be 15 or younger by the first day of school.
- For a student new to Chavez to be eligible for the 10th grade, you must be 16 or younger by the first day of school.
